Treatment of dilated capillaries with ipl (intense pulse light)

Indications

  • Dilated facial capillaries
  • Senile (age) angiomas on body
  • PWS (port wine stains)
  • Hemangiomas

The IPL therapy is the most effective non-invasive treatment of
vascular pathologies.

Description of the procedure
During treatment session the IPL light beam, which is targeted at a blood vessel,
destroys visible capillaries with its high heat energy. A pulse is so short that the heat
does not affect tissue around the blood vessel, which oblates (adheres) and gradually
disappears in three to four weeks’ time. Other skin structures are not affected, the
epidermis is not injured. When capillaries resolve, the texture of skin does not change
and scars do not form. The procedure is slightly painful. After treatment session
cooling applications of ice are put on the skin. Capillaries resolve after one to two
treatment sessions keeping the skin smooth and clean.
Treatment can be performed at any age and on any part of the body.

Restrictions before and after the procedure

  • Prior to the laser treatment patients must have natural skin tone, i.e. it must not be tanned.
  • After the treatment it is important to apply SPF 50 sunscreen when the skin is exposed to the sun.

If the factors causing vascular dilation are not eliminated, repetition of the pathology
is often inevitable. The IPL will efficiently eliminate the cosmetic imperfection, but
not the cause of it.
